After we finished the coast, we headed inland to the famed Red Centre. This is Uluru, probably the most famous Aboriginal site. It is about 500 kms from the nearest village. Also known as Ayers Rock, this sandstone formation stands 348 m above ground with most of its bulk below the ground, and measures 9.4 km in circumference. It is sacred to the local aboriginals, so we opted to walk around it instead of up it. Very impressive.
