The Katherine Gorge was an amazing sight. A few hours south of Darwin, Katherine is famous for its gorge - or rather, the 15 separate gorges that comprise the Katherine Gorge. The sheer rocks on the side rise 75 meters up from the ravine, and in the wet season, the water height doubles. We went at the beginning of the dry season, and the water had already dropped so much that we had to walk between the gorges because the water was too shallow for our boat. Our cruise was two hours long, and we only got to the first two gorges - just to give you an idea of how big it is.
